Our family had such a lovely time at the Esh family's farm! Sylvan, Sadie and their children were very friendly, welcoming, hospitable, and we loved spending time chatting with them. Our small children loved every minute of their time on the farm and didn't want to leave to visit anywhere else! It was such a joy to talk with Sylvan about milking the cows, farm equipment, and Amish life. It was wonderful chatting with Sadie about motherhood and preparing for big weddings! Lydia was also very sweet when she brought a puppy for our young kids to pet and when she brought them on a quick buggy ride around the barn! We didn't want to leave! We hope to return soon to visit the Esh family again and stay in their wonderful guesthouse! We cannot recommend the Killdeer Farm Guesthouse more highly!
Thank you for your review. I'm glad your Amish Farm Stay with the Esh family was so memorable!
We loved this place! Did not want to leave! Very nice family, hard workers. The house, the grounds, everything was so clean and manicured. Loved talking to Sadie and Sylvan. Such nice people. Experiencing farm life was so interesting. Their animals are all so well taken care of......and spoiled! Everything about the stay was great! The house has everything you could possibly need and so comfortable We will definitely be going back when they get the goats!
We're glad you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for your review!
We were met in a driving rainstorm by Lydia and Sadie. Sadie then welcomed us and showed us the guest house. She spent over an hour with us just talking to us and answering questions. She really made us feel welcome. We had an extended family of 10 and they allowed us to stay even though supposed to be 8. Sadie offered us extra bedding but we had extra cots already. The guest house was very clean and nice but the highlights were spending time with their family and learning about their way of life. Some of the activities we got to enjoy were a tour of the farm by Sadie, a pony ride in a cart by Sylvan's mother, a croquet game with Lydia and her friends(then another one the next morning after the chores were done), a tour of the one room schoolhouse with Lydia, a milking lesson with Sylvan and Lydia at 6:15am(they let us sleep in an extra 45 min), enjoyed singing from their youth group, carriage ride. to market to take three calves to sell. On top of all this my brother's van would not start when we were supposed to go home and Sylvan recommended an Amish friend that fixed it that same day for less than it would have cost back home. While we were waiting past the check out time Sylvan, Sadie, and Lydia sat and talked with us and Sadie showed us her beautiful quilt she was working on! The family is amazing and on the way home the kids were wanting to order a croquet set and planning to come back when Sight and Sound starts a new show. Like Esther my family and I believe God put us with Sylvan and his family for such a time as this! To see a family so dedicated to God, family, and friends was a great lesson to us all.
Thank you for your thoughtful review!
Our stay at Killdeer Farm Guesthouse was amazing! It was better than I could have hoped for. Sylvan and Sadie and their precious children were very welcoming and spent a lot of time visiting with us. They answered all our questions and showed us around the farm. Our accommodations were beautiful and very clean. I can’t wait to return!
My daughter and I stayed at Kildeer Farm in January
It was an absolutely amazing stay. Our guesthouse was spotless and we could not have asked for more for our accommodations. Sylvan and his family welcomed us graciously right from the start. We spent a lot of time with the family and we learned a lot about their farm life
I highly recommend Kildeer Farm and the Lancaster County Farm experience. We cannot wait to return
Thank you for your helpful review!
This house was by far the most cleanest house. Rooms are huge and lots of sunlight. The hosts- Sadie was very friendly and so as her daughter Lydia and smiled all the time. We were 2 families with 3 small kids and we had a blast. Touring the barn and watching the cows being milked was perfect experience for the kids. Everything you see in the pictures is the way you will find.
I would definitely recommend this house and we can't wait to return to this house.
Thank you for your review. We're glad you enjoyed your Amish Farm Stay at the Killdeer Farm Guesthouse.
We were excited to return to Killdeer Farm and it was even more amazing than our first stay. The first morning we woke up in time to watch the birth of a calf and a few hours later witnessed a second birth. We were allowed to participate in the daily chores of milking, feeding and cleaning the cows, horses and mules. Which is done twice a day by the entire family. The Esh family exudes love and faith in everything they do. We consider Sylvan, Sadie, Abram and Lydia very special friends.
Thank you for your review. I'm glad you enjoyed your return visit to Killdeer Farm!
Never have I stayed anywhere that can compare to Killdeer Farm and it’s lovely owners. Sadie and Sylvan graciously opened their doors and treated me like family. This is the cleanest and nicest B&B I have ever been in. It is lovely and comfortable, and the peace and tranquillity one will find here is exceptional! In the four nights I was there I completely fell in love with this family. The children are so sweet and so kind and a breath of fresh air. Even their animals are kind and gentle and oh how I loved petting their little Corgie pups.
Touring the barn and watching the cows being milked was awesome! Being from a rural area in NC it wasn’t the first time I’ve seen a cow being milked but I loved listening to Slyvan and Sadie explain the lineage of their animals and the amount of milk each cow produces per day.
I had an opportunity to see Abram, Sadie and Sylvan’s son get ready for his first night going to the youth group. What an exciting time that was!! Lydia, their daughter, is a beautiful young lady and a talented quilter even at her young age. She gladly showed her mother’s quilting room and explained how she marked her material. It was fascinating from start to finish.!!
This B&B is as authentic as it gets if you are looking to learn more about the Old Order Amish. This B&B is easily a five star accommodation and I would go as high as a ten.
On a personal note the quiet time I spent there was the most wonderful quiet I have had in years. I could feel the presence of God and knew that at that moment in time I was exactly where I was supposed to be.🙂
I will be back again to visit with this amazing family.
Thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review. I'm glad you had a memorable stay!
We enjoyed our stay at the Esh Family farm - it was a great experience - just wish we had more time to converse with them - too many other things to do in Lancaster County and too little time! Us ladies enjoyed our conversations with Sadie and Lydia - dad got to hang in barn a bit during milking with Sylvan! Only thing that could have made it better was if warmer and we could sit on porch - and just take it all in!! The house was very clean and everything you needed was there!
Thank you for your review. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you may return sometime!
Guesthouse is beautiful and spotless. Each room was very spacious and beds were very comfortable. The entire family was so kind we really enjoyed spending time with them in the evening. We kept Sylvan up way past his bedtime but he was still up before the sun milking the cows. Sadie makes the most beautiful quilts and Lydia is a great quilter as well. Abram was a little more quiet but has an amazing work ethic for such a young man. We cannot wait to go back for another visit.
Glad you enjoyed the Killdeer Farm Guesthouse. Thanks for the review!
